Know your rights as a student during recruiting for internship and job opportunities.

Your Rights as A student

  • You have the right to take your time and meet with all the firms you are interested in to make informed decisions without feeling rushed or pressured.

  • You are protected from excessive communication or signing bonus pressure tactics from firms.

  • Firms are expected to respect your academic schedule and your right to make decisions in a sober and thoughtful environment.

Event guidelines

  • Firms must prioritize your academic commitments. Events should be scheduled around your classes and study time.

  • Off-campus social events with firm representatives and student ambassadors, prospective candidates or those with pending offers should only be invited to dry events (i.e., no alcohol served).

  • This policy ensures no student feels pressured to drink or drink underage with a prospective employer. Your decision to join a firm should be made sober and without any pressure.

OFfer extensions & Deadlines

  • Offers made during Fall recruiting must stay open for at least two weeks. You also have the right to request a two-week extension if needed.

  • Winter recruiting offers, including those for DEI Initiative Programs, internships, and full-time positions, must remain open for four weeks from the offer date.

  • Firms are prohibited from using signing bonuses that expire before an offer decision is made. There should be no timed bonuses or other signing incentives meant to rush your decision.
